An O-ring, also known as a packing, or ring joint, is an annular mechanical gasket; it is an elastomeric ring of circular cross-section designed to fit in a groove and between two or more parts Compresses when assembled, creating a rod seal at the interface.

ISO 3601-1:2012 contains the most commonly used standard sizes worldwide, imperial and metric. There are also standard sizes in the UK called BS sizes, usually from BS001 to BS932. Several other sizes also exist.
