Q.
My 1999 Dodge RV (
With automatic transmission)
The engine does not enter the gear when it is first started.
Once the engine reaches 3,000 r. p. m.
On the tachometer, the engine is warming and the problem disappears.
Is there any problem?
What should I do? A.
The torque converter can run out overnight.
A quick way to check this is to check the transmission fluid as soon as the engine starts.
If the liquid is significantly higher than the full mark on the oil ruler, the torque converter is discharged.
The repair will be to replace the torque converter.
If the liquid level is normal, the transmission pump seal may fail and the appropriate pressure cannot be maintained.
The transmission technician will use a pressure gauge to determine if the fluid pressure is low.
If this is the case, then the transmission will need to be rebuilt. Q.
I have 1997 Camry (130,000 miles)
Good running.
The most recent \"check engine\" light shows that the efficiency of the catalytic converter is below the threshold.
\"Three years ago I replaced the catalytic converter with aftermarket parts.
On a recent trip to the repair shop, I was told that I should use real Toyota parts.
Toyota\'s parts and labor force will reach $1,400.
Considering the age of the car, do you think it\'s worth spending a lot of money on a real Toyota catalytic converter?
Do you think the offer is reasonable?
What do you think about the after-sales catalytic converter? A.
Some automobile after-sales catalytic converters work normally;
It seems to others that they have not done the work.
Most aftermarket catalytic converters have a specific warranty.
According to the EPA website, after-sales converters must have a five-year or 50,000-mile warranty on the housing and plumbing, and a 25,000-mile performance warranty-perhaps with some remaining warranty.
The $1,400 repair fee for replacing the converter with factory parts is typical.
Without knowing the details of your car, there is no reason to think that your Camry has many years left. Q.
I\'m thinking about replacing my 10-year-
A smaller old Jeep, Cherokee.
I was thinking of a small SUV or even a Subaru sedan.
I love the room for the SUV and the stability of the winter.
Do you have any suggestions? A.
Small SUV such as Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-
V may make sense.
I prefer CR-
V on rav4.
Subaru is a good choice but I think you might miss the room for the SUV.
You can also take a look at the Ford Escape Hybrid and look for a \"greener\" option.
If you think the frontwheel-
Driving is enough in winter, and there are other options.
Honda Fit is a great car.
The rooms are spacious and affordable.
My favorite car is Mazda 3 five-door.
The car was well handled, the gas mileage was good, and there was plenty of room for it. Q.
I want to buy a used BMW in a few months and need to stay between $15,000 and $20,000.
The best thing I got in 2004 --
2006 but which model do I want to know?
Obviously, 5 of the 3 Series will be great, but not required.
I want a manual transmission. wheel-
It would be nice to drive.
Is there any suggestion for models to be avoided or models that you would recommend to others? A.
Quick check on Www. cars.
Com compares your budget to what you want to buy, and your choice is limited to 325xi.
I highly recommend you considering that you live in New Englandwheel-drive.
BMW rear wheel drive (
Even with traction control)
Snow tires are affected in wet weather.
Before you buy any car, please have a good repair shop thoroughly checked. Q.
I have a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta and the computer lights are on all the time.
I recently replaced the oxygen sensor and then filled it with gas and the lights went out.
It came back the next day. What can I do?
It can\'t pass the check and it will cost more money every time I put it in the store.
The car is 107,000 miles so I don\'t think it\'s worn out. What can I do? A.
At this point, I will go back to the store where the original repair was made.
Since they seem to have misdiagnosed the problem, at least they should look at the car again.
The Volkswagen will suffer some simple problems as the vacuum hose breaks and leaks as it grows olderair-flow sensors.
